    Description

ORIGINAL SIGNED COLOR LITHO by Ben Shahn - RARE
    WHOLESALE PRICED!!!
I don't have to tell you who New York School WPA Artist Ben Shahn was, but he was also a family friend, my earliest art teacher, and a powerful force in the struggle for personal freedoms and individual rights. This piece is an original made-directly-on-the-plate and signed in the plate lithograph produced for Artist's Equity Masquerade ball, in a limited edition of only 2,000 -- of which original number, precious few remain today.
I had this piece in my gallery -- now closed because I retired 14 years ago -- at 0 framed, a bargain price. In this sale, matting and framing are NOT INCLUDED. This piece is not just made by a famous artist -- it is all about the Columbia Broadcasting System and their new technology, the color television set! Nobody had color TV in 1951 -- there were no color broadcasts, but the TV set got made and sold in spite of the early lack of programming. Programs in color made the announcement proudly at the beginning of the broadcast.
    good luck.
