Press the latching pushbutton to increase the total circuit Capacitance by 150pf. The Capacitance is locked/latched and will hold until you press the pushbutton again
5) Non Skid Feet and easy to connect Antenna and Ground terminals using the included Alligator clips.

Selectable from 3 Diodes that Can be selected Individually
Selectable Diode feature lets you test and compare the signal quality or Audio Level for up to three user selectable diodes by simply moving the included jumper to positions 1, 2, or 3 as marked on the PC Board
Select from any of the 3 Germanium Diode's- D311 (Black), BAT85 Schottky (Smallest Diode), European 1N34A (Red Band)-Not all the diodes will perform equally depending on the signal strength in your area.
Simply Connect the Included Earphone and attach and your own Antenna and Ground Wire and it is ready to use.

A minimum of a
30-50ft long outdoor Antenna Wire is recommended.
The best configuration for a crystal radio antenna is to run the wire horizontally between two electrically insulated supports as high off the ground as you can get them
.
The reason you need a good length antenna is because the more antenna you have, the more power your set will receive, and the louder it will be.
