Blue Floral Print
Dress, Antique Collar, Shawl, Pinafore and Petticoat.
The dress is made of blue cotton fabric a floral pattern with rows of light blue flowers with green leaves on a teal blue background, and narrow cream colored stripes with rows of light blue ovals and small green dots. and lacy white dots in darker blue shades and maroon flowers.   The simple bodice and skirt are gathered to a wide waistband. It buttons down the back with lovely antique buttons made cream colored glass. The dress has bishop or shirt sleeves which button at the wrist. Self fabric piping finishes the neck edge. Where ever possible I have flat felled the seams for extra strength. The skirt has a 1" turned hem.  The skirt should accommodate a girl's hoop skirt or corded petticoat.
The beautiful collar is an antique piece made of delicate cotton cutwork with lace edging. It has been basted to the dress for easy removal. It is approximately 2" wide.
The petticoat is white broderie anglaise in a cotton/poly blend. It has a lovely embroidered scalloped hem. The petticoat has a narrow drawstring waistband. The waist can be extended to 36"  The skirt is 22 1/2" long and the circumference of the petticoat is 59". It  has two 1 "growth tucks" with longer stitches, the center seam  can be opened and the tucks can  be removed to lengthen the petticoat as the young lady grows.
The shawl is the classic Charity shawl design in a coordinating light blue, wool-look acrylic yarn. The shawl is finished with a charming scalloped edging. It measures 59" wide, it is 32" from the center back to the point, and 43" from side to center point.  Machine wash cold, lay flat, block to shape to dry.
The pinafore is made of cream  cotton/poly blend colored eyelet (or broderie anglaise as it was called in the period). It has an intricately embroidered. scalloped edge. It is made to be worn just under the armpit and across the upper chest to cover and protect as much of the dress as possible. It closes at the back. It has narrow, self-fabric arm straps and closing strap across the back which buttons with period correct bone buttons.
The size 8 dress is patterned for a 27" chest and 23" waist. The actual measurement of the dress:  Neck opening 13".  Back neck to the top of the waistband 12". Sleeve length is 18 1/2".  Wrist  6". Waist 25".  Top of waistband to bottom of the skirt 25".  Circumference of the skirt 132".
I suggest that the dress be cold water washed and hang dried. The glass buttons can be broken in the dryer.
